Case #174, Lansing police arrest 2 in child prostitution investigation
Two men from Chicago and Ford Heights face charges following an investigation into alleged child prostitution at a Lansing motel, police said.
James Gaston, 23, of Ford Heights, is charged with two counts of human trafficking, one count of involuntary servitude and one count of involuntary servitude of a minor, police said. He is in the Cook County Jail on a $250,000 bond. Jordan Johnson, 26, of Chicago, is charged with keeping a place of prostitution and bonded out of the Lansing Police Department.
On Friday, Lansing police arrived at the Super 8 Motel, 2151 Bernice Road, for a report of alleged child prostitution. Officers found Johnson and Gaston in a motel room along with a 19-year-old female and a 16-year-old girl.
Police said they found postings on a social networking site, Backpage.com, soliciting the two females for prostitution. Police said they determined Johnson had rented the motel room and Gaston had set up the Backpage.com accounts.
Police suspect Gaston arranged for and facilitated the prostitution of the adult female and the 16-year-old over the past several months in hotels in the south suburbs and Northwest Indiana.
The 19-year-old female was released without charges and the 16-year-old was released to her guardian.
