Local authorities in the summer of 2011 were investigating a case of child pornography production but ended up busting an alleged pimp and his associate after a 15-year-old girl accused them of prostituting her by way of online escort advertisements.

Dontavious M. Blake, 32, and Tara Jo Moore, 26, are facing federal charges of sex trafficking of minors and inducing a minor to engage in commercial sex acts. They both have a pre-trial detention hearing Tuesday.

The alleged victim in the case told authorities that she participated in prostitution in the summer of 2011, when she was 15.

She worked in hotels in the county and met her customers after Moore and Blake set up the exchange. The customers found the teen on Backpage.com. An ad in the escort section listed a phone number to call and pictures of the teen.

Moore would answer the calls and negotiate a price for sexual services. Blake would then contact the child and drive her to the location to meet the customer.

The teen would pay a portion of the money she was paid to Blake.

If convicted, Blake and Moore could get a maximum sentence of life.
