Lynn Robertson - Flash Picket

Village Voice doesn’t understand the damage they are causing with their prostitution ad business. They do understand the language of the almighty dollar.  In addition to full-blown street protests of Village Voice; phone calls, emails, Facebook posts and tweets to Village Voice’s advertisers; Philip J. Cenedella of the National Association of Human Trafficking Victim Advocates has introduced a new concept in the fight against Village Voice's backpage.com - "Flash Pickets"

Philip sent us photos and the Facebook page of Lynn Robertson of Westland, Michigan, who did a flash picket of the Guitar Center, an advertiser of Village Voice.

These are a few comments from Lynn's Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/lynn.robertson.14

..."Flash Picket"..thank you Philip J Cenedella for this AWESOME idea!!!

...you did it awesome. As soon as I am able I am making my sign and heading straight for guitar center here in Nashville and make them aware of what they are participating in. YOU ROCK

...this would also be a good way to introduce allot more people to a new modern way of doing a picket
You can add some punch to Lynn's flash picket by calling Greg Trojan, Chief Executive Officer of the Guitar Center (818) 735-8800  ext. 2235 to voice your concerns about Village Voice's backpage.com.

The “Flash Picket”

Grab your camera and some friends if they are around or go solo – Make a quick picket sign and head to the nearest company that advertises with Village Voice Media Holdings, LLC in Phoenix (the parent company) or one of their free “alternative newspapers” listed below. Also, below are a list of Village Voice advertisers that you can visit.

The beauty of the “flash picket” is instead of standing out in the hot sun for a couple of hours with 125 people seeing your picket sign, you can get your photo taken with your picket sign, put it on the net, show it to the world and send it to the company you are protesting. All with very little sweat. We would be happy to post your photos to villagevoicepimps.com, but I’m sure you can find many uses for your flash picket photos!

1. Make the message on your sign very clear so everyone gets what you are trying to communicate.
2. Include the name of the advertiser or newspaper you are protesting; example: “Hooters supports Child Trafficking Ad Biz”
3. Make sure you, your picket sign and the sign of the company are all included in your shot.
4. Have fun.
