Hold on there Baba Louie!
Translated, the press release orchestrated and released yesterday by Village Voice Pimps Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin says:
"We have fired Tony Ortega, the editor of the Village Voice in New York and now we have sacrificed our 13 newspapers to the mighty and fierce forces that have descended upon our advertisers and made life a living hell for us. [Get used to it Pimps!] Please leave us alone so we can retire comfortably and live luxuriously the rest of our lives snuggled up to our beloved child sex trafficking machine - Backpage.com - Cha-Ching!"
Hearing the news, staff at the 13 Village Voice Media free weekly newspapers were ecstatic and threw off their child sex trafficking hair shirts.
But hold on there Baba Louie! Remember, who we are dealing with here.
The 13 newspapers previously owned by Lacey's and Larkin's Village Voice Media have now been turned over to a new corporation called Voice Media Group (remember that name) - the officers of which Lacey and Larkin personally selected!
And according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, (see record below) Lacey and Larkin applied (via their Village Voice Media Holdings LLC) for a trademark for "Voice Media Group" on July 11, 2012 and still own it! Yeah, that's right! Lacey and Larkin own the trademark of the new corporation they just sold their 13 newspapers to! Well, la-de-da! (The USPTO makes this data available for search by the public so that individuals can locate ownership information for intellectual property, much the same way a county might make real estate property ownership information available.)
Lacey and Larkin's Village Voice Media Holdings, LLC registered the trademark Voice Media Group just 2 days after Fair Girls made public their famous video on national TV and then used it to target 26 Village Voice advertisers:
The "executive team" of the new corporation is the same executive team that faithfully served Lacey and Larkin for the last couple of decades and who fired Village Voice Media employees upon command. Just ask Ortega who fired him!
According to the press release Lacey and Larkin orchestrated:
"The buyout is being led by Scott Tobias, who has been Village Voice Media Holdings' chief operating officer and will be chief executive officer of the new Voice Media Group. Christine Brennan will become executive editor of the new enterprise after more than nineteen years as the executive managing editor at VVMH, and Jeff Mars will serve as chief financial officer, also building on his experience as vice president of financial operations for VVMH. Tobias, Brennan and Mars will comprise Voice Media Group's executive team."
Tobias, the new head honcho of the 13 newspapers, told the New York Post “We secured private financing...We’re not going to get into the financials.” Reuters reported: "Tobias would say only that he and fellow senior VVM editorial management executives have raised 'some money from private investors' for Voice Media Group."
The articles of incorporation indicate Voice Media Group incorporated last Friday - September 21, 2012. The principal office of Voice Media Group according to the filing is 740 Krameria Street, Denver. (See Google Earth photo of house on right)
The corporation is authorized to issue 1,000,000 shares.
According to this record the secret investors have come up with at least $50.00 in order to file the corporate documents.
Now with the above provided evidence advertisers really can't be sure if the 13 free weekly newspapers have severed ties with the underworld of Backpage.com.
Therefore, VillageVoicePimp.com will continue to keep track of the number of children who are sex trafficked and the number of advertisers who continue to bail from the 13 newspapers and we will urge advertisers to ask this question until it is answered:
Who are the secret investors that own your newspaper? Show us evidence of the secret investors!
Until that question is answered, advertisers will be unsure whether the 13 newspapers still have ties to the unsavory underworld of backpage.com.VOICE MEDIA GROUP- Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)
