A Buffalo man man was arrested Thursday and charged with sex trafficking of minors.

Kenneth Graham, 24, of Amherst, N.Y., faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

According to the criminal complaint, between 2010 and August 2012, Graham recruited, promoted and profited from the prostitution activities of two minor girls knowing - or in reckless disregard of the fact - that the girls were under the age of 18. Graham also recruited, promoted and profited from a third victim, a woman in her 20s.

At age 17, Tiffany already had four cellphones. In three, she kept a phone number for a man she called “Shadow.”

In the fall of 2010, Shadow — whose real name is Miguel Pierre Morancy — called Tiffany 2,687 times on two of the phones, court documents say, and a “ridiculously high number of times” on the others.

Morancy, federal prosecutors say, was her pimp.

A growing number of children in Minnesota are becoming victims of sex traffickers.

Authorities say in many of the recent child sex trafficking cases the illegal transaction began on Backpage.com. It then ends up at local hotels and motels, typically in the suburbs.

Ramsey County authorities, advocacy organizations and local hotels and motels are teaming up to combat the growing trend.

They’re training hotel employees on what to look for and when to call police.

An investigation into juvenile sex trafficking turned up a teenage girl and the arrest of a Little Rock, Ark., man this month in Woodbury.

A Minneapolis police officer investigating juvenile sex trafficking activity spotted an ad Aug. 9 on the website Backpage.com that depicted the image of a provocatively dressed young woman offering “unrushed service, full of pleasure.”

The officer called the number on the ad and spoke with a female who said she was at the Red Roof Inn in Woodbury. According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, the woman agreed to terms for sex.
