Speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves – the victims of the sex trafficking web site Backpage.com – the Rev. Katharine Henderson of New York’s Auburn Seminary told a crow of 150 who attended a rally outside the Village Voice Media's New York Headquarters:

“As a mother and member of the clergy, I am outraged by Village Voice Media’s continued refusal to shut down Backpage.com’s adult section, even after being confronted with evidence that girls and teens have been advertised for sex on the site.”

Police have arrested a man who is accused of exploiting a teenage runaway.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, 32-year-old Ysidro Esquivel took pictures of the girl and created an ad on "Backpage.com" under its escort section. He allegedly set up 10 dates with people who wanted to have sex with the girl.

Esquivel is now in the Bexar County Jail on human trafficking charges.

A Sioux Falls jury has returned a guilty verdict for a man accused of forcing a teenage girl to work as a prostitute last winter.

Jurors deliberated for about two hours before returning verdicts of guilty for Emmanuel Nyuon, 34, who was charged with sex trafficking of a minor and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Since December of 2012, detectives with the Bremerton Police Department have been working a rape and human trafficking investigation involving two juvenile victims (ages 16 and 17) and one adult victim. To date, five individuals have been arrested and charged for their involvement and are currently in-custody at the Kitsap County Jail. Two others have been charged with felonies, but are currently out of custody.

When a 13-year-old prostitute tried to leave her pimp, the Miami man forced her to tattoo his street name on her eyelids.

The teenager now has her torturer’s nickname, Suave, on her right eyelid. On her left eyelid, she was inked with the word House, suggesting that she belonged to him.

Five more people have been indicted in an alleged child sex-trafficking conspiracy involving a 14-year-old girl who was forced to perform sex for money after being advertised online.

The five defendants allegedly conspired with Anthony Grandberry, 32, of Memphis who was indicted on federal sex-trafficking charges in January.

The new, expanded indictment also names as defendants Orreco Lyons, 32; Keith Gibson, 43; Vivian Briggs, 28; Tamara Ramsey, 37; and Falisha Edwards, 32.

Gibson is from Union City, Tenn., while the others are from Memphis.

In the chilly first hours of Feb. 4, 2012, a sheriff's deputy patrolling Washington County passed a scantily clad girl on a residential street and circled back to check on her.

The deputy found the girl sitting on a porch. She was 15, from Tacoma, and said she was looking for a party. It was right about then that a man now identified a Hershell Clark  pulled up slowly in his own car. The deputy stopped Clark and got permission to search his laptop.

What he found on the computer ended poorly for Clark's friend, 25-year-old Depri M. Spenser, of Tacoma.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation overnight arrested a Hopkinsville, KY woman for sex trafficking a juvenile after an undercover operation.

TBI arrested and charged Elizabeth Cook, 26, of 514 West 15th Street, with one count of human trafficking by promoting the prostitution of a minor. TBI conducted the undercover operation into possible sexual exploitation of a minor on Backpage.com.
