Speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves – the victims of the sex trafficking web site Backpage.com – the Rev. Katharine Henderson of New York’s Auburn Seminary told a crow of 150 who attended a rally outside the Village Voice Media's New York Headquarters:

“As a mother and member of the clergy, I am outraged by Village Voice Media’s continued refusal to shut down Backpage.com’s adult section, even after being confronted with evidence that girls and teens have been advertised for sex on the site.”

Katherine Moon says she was 13 when she was forced into prostitution. By the time she was 20, she had worked for 13 pimps.

Moon will join Traffick911, a nonprofit group in Keller on Saturday for a 5K and One Mile Fun Run to raise money for a regional safe house for victims of child sex trafficking. As an advocate for Traffick911, Moon, now 22, said she is telling her story to prevent other children from making the mistakes she made.

Two men have been charged with promoting the commercial sex abuse of a minor and second-degree rape for allegedly pimping out a 16-year-old girl and beating and raping a woman who refused to work as a prostitute for them, according to Pierce County prosecutors.

Claude Hutchinson, 25, and Eugene Young, 27, were arrested Monday on bench warrants issued last week, court and jail records show. The men are both felons who were also wanted on unrelated warrants, charging papers say.

Both men pleaded not guilty Monday.

Dear Mr. Ortega:

For years now, you have been defending your company, Village Voice Media, for operating  backpage.com, by far the nation’s largest online trafficker in child prostitution.  You have excused this abomination with the lamest of arguments, all of which we have cited here for two years now.
