Two more girls found - Count now at 137 young girls trafficked on Backpage
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that a Minnesota man, Mickey Albert Cupkie, arranged and paid for sex with two teenage girls – one a runaway after responding to a backpage.com ad. A police investigation revealed that both girls had been forced into prostitution.
Ramsey County Attorney John Choi called this case another example of Backpage being used "as a platform to traffic minors for sex." He renewed his call for site owner Village Voice Media to shut down the website's adult section.
Minneapolis police sergeant Sgt. Grant Snyder, who investigated the case, said that all of the more than 20 child sex-trafficking cases he had worked on this year had ties to Backpage.
