VillageVoicePimps.com calls for Nationwide Protests - starting with Dallas, Minneapolis and San Diego

Philip J. Cenedella

Protests against Village Voice have occurred in various pockets of the country; Cal State Fullerton, New York, Phoenix, etc. but due to the ever increasing troops enlisting in the war on Village Voice's backpage.com, organization is needed. VillageVoicePimps.com has unexpectedly found itself as HQ for protest coordination.

Just yesterday we received messages from folks wanting to engage.  If you are in Dallas, Minneapolis or San Diego, please contact the below folks.  For those of you planning protests elsewhere, just just send us an e-mail villagevoicepimps@gmail.com and we'll put out the word for reinforcements.

At this point in time, probably the only way to get Village Voice to shut down their adult section of backpage is for their advertisers to demand they shut down by yanking their advertising dollars. One way to help persuade advertisers and the Village Voice family of newspapers (see below) is the Flash Picket.  But don't forget the Fair Girls strategy! See end.

MINNEAPOLIS

I am a strong voice for women that have no voice. My book http://breakingmysilence.net will explain what I have to bring to the table on this matter  Please go to my web site and get in touch soon.  Jane McCormick  silence@breakingmysilence.net  (651) 500-0177  FROM HER WEBSITE: Jane McCormick, a 70 year old former call girl partied with the Rat Pack and dated the likes of Sinatra...Martin...Lewis...Arnie Palmer and more. McCormick tells her story not to titillate but to help younger women decide not to enter prostitution, to show them that getting out is way harder than getting in, and to give hope for escape.   She envisions change in federal and local laws regarding the sex-trade industry as well as a place where postituting women might find the refuge and the help to put their lives in order.

DALLAS

Greetings from Dallas, TX!  I am a rising senior in high school who recently joined a club against human trafficking, sponsored by a professor at SMU and the organization Children at Risk, as well as partnered with the Frederick Douglass Family Foundation. We (the students) first project is a series of protests against backpage.com's offices in Dallas. I was wondering if you had any contacts in Dallas that could possibly help with our next protest, maybe even join us! We have been inspired by the work of Kenneth Morris and Robert Benz in their protests against backpage in Arizona, and would hope to publicize the terrible advertising going on. Please keep in contact through twitter (@kkwiz) and email. Would love to hear back from you!  Thanks,  Katy Wyszynski kwiz2013@gmail.com   When told about Flash Pickets, Katy says: Great advice, thanks for sharing. Hoping to get some more people out for this next quick protest, and will definitely contact the Dallas Morning News to join us. I will keep you updated and throw some pictures and videos your way! Keep an eye out for us Dallas students Thanks, Katy Wyszynski

 SAN DIEGO

In October 2011, Philip J. Cenedella of the National Association of Human Trafficking Victim Advocates organized and pulled off the very first protest of Village Voice's backpage. When the "Editor-in-Chief" of the Village Voice, Tony Ortega, visited Cal State Fullerton, Cenedella and his troops were waiting for him, armed with picket signs and chants of "Stop Sex Trafficking!" Mr. Cenedella now has invented what is a soon to be famous information warfare tactic, called the "Flash Picket - the modern way to protest" .   Cenedella tells us that you do not have to spend months organizing a protest and then stand for hours sweltering in the hot sun.  Right now, today, you can do the Flash!   Make a quick protest sign, grab a camera, head to the site, strike up your soon-to-be-famous pose, click the photo, jump back in the car and upload your photo and description to the world wide web, Facebook and Twitter to show us YOUR style.  You can see some Flash Picket photos here.    Phil's email: phil@stopslavery2012.com

The below strategy was found on the Fair Girls website: http://www.fairgirls.org Let's help them contact the Village Voice advertisers.  Village Voice  doesn't care about children caught up in their Backpage underworld - they only care about money.

If you don't have time to do twitter, facebook and send an individual email to each advertiser, we've compiled the list which you can just use to bcc all the 26 advertisers and enlighten them on why they should stop advertising with Village Voice!    Here they are:

adam.moffit@molsoncoors.com, alex@mnstarsfc.com, andrea.katsenes@cox.com, bbartow@stlcardinals.com, bob.klein@harley-davidson.com, chris.brathwaite@searshc.com, daria.serna@rtd-denver.com, david_juliano@cable.comcast.com, e-weiner@benjerry.com, jennifer.mire@houstonsymphony.org, jgrisko@sfsymphony.org, katie.stafford@daimler.com, kdonnellan@aarp.org,  l.korenman@dalsym.com, martyb@americanapparel.net, mdebacco@lafilm.com, mmcnally@dbacks.com, peter.thonis@verizon.com, sjefferies@laphil.org, vanessal@ladodgers.com, wayne.hall@anheuser-busch.com, bblair@footlocker.com, anitaw@EMPmuseum.org
